RASC News Agency: Meisam Nazari, Head of Foreign Relations for the National Resistance Front (NRF), has called on the United States and the international community to support the NRF in its fight against terrorism in Afghanistan. He emphasized that foreign terrorist operatives, operating under Taliban protection, are being trained in Afghanistan and deployed to orchestrate attacks in other nations. Nazari highlighted that extremist groups, including al-Qaeda, ISIS, and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), are thriving in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. He warned that these groups are leveraging the country as a safe haven to plan, execute, or facilitate terrorist operations worldwide.
Reacting to the recent terrorist attack in New Orleans, Nazari condemned the incident and warned that global inaction against extremist groups would lead to a surge in similar catastrophic events. “Complacency towards terrorist networks will result in more tragedies akin to the New Orleans attack,” he stated. The FBI’s Deputy Director, Christopher Wray, described the New Orleans attack as a “calculated act of terrorism” during a press briefing on January 2. Several U.S. officials have attributed the attack to tactics inspired by ISIS.
Nazari asserted that over the past three and a half years, terrorist groups such as the Taliban, al-Qaeda, ISIS, and TTP have exploited Afghanistan as a strategic sanctuary to organize and facilitate global attacks, including those targeting the United States. He further claimed that, with the Taliban’s support, foreign militants are being trained, armed, and deployed to penetrate international borders and conduct brutal operations. In a direct appeal to President-elect Donald Trump’s administration, Nazari urged decisive measures against the Taliban and associated extremist factions. He also called for robust international backing, particularly from the United States, to empower the NRF in its mission to combat terrorism and counter the Taliban’s growing influence in Afghanistan.
