RASC News Agency: According to local sources from Paktika province, the Taliban, in continuation of their retaliatory actions against former military personnel, recently detained a former government police member and resident of this province in Helmand province. Sources reported to the media on Sunday, Feb 18, that the affiliated former police member is a resident of Khushamand district in Paktika province who had returned from Iran nearly three weeks ago.

The sources stated that this former military member is known as Qaisar Khanjar, and after returning from Iran, he was living in the house of one of his relatives in Helmand. According to sources, Taliban members from Paktika province went to Helmand to arrest him, and since then, there has been no information about his fate for a week.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the detention of this former military member, while the detention, torture, and killing of former military personnel by the Taliban in several provinces, especially Paktika, are not new. In a previous case, Badruddin Haidari, also known as “Bado,” the former police commander of Bak district in this province, was detained by the Taliban upon returning from Iran and later killed.

During their more than two-year rule over the country, the Taliban have been accused by human rights organizations of widespread and egregious human rights violations, especially against women, girls, and former military personnel.
