RASC News Agency: The Taliban group has announced that, in accordance with the leadership’s directive, the new district of Dandghori has been incorporated into the administrative framework of Baghlan Province. According to a report issued by the Bakhtar News Agency on Monday, Feb 12, under Taliban control, the group has designated Abdul Samad Jawad as the district governor of Dandghori.

With the establishment of this district, Balkh Province, with its center in Pul-e Khumri in the north of the country, now comprises 15 administrative units. Baghlan, one of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces, is situated 250 kilometers north of Kabul along the north-south axis connecting the two sides of the Hindu Kush. Its fertile valleys and strategic roads link Kabul to northern Afghanistan.

Baghlan Province holds significant appeal for the Taliban, given its strategic location, economic resources, and, most importantly, its demographic composition. The group pays considerable attention to this province due to these factors.
