RASC News Agency: Nasir Ahmad Faiq, Afghanistan’s acting representative to the United Nations, has criticized the Taliban for failing to establish an inclusive and just government, despite nearly four years of their rule. In a post on X on Monday, February 10, Faiq asserted that the Taliban have shown no genuine commitment to ensuring peace and prosperity for the Afghanistani people. Instead, their repressive policies have driven the country into deepening isolation. He further emphasized that the Taliban remain solely preoccupied with consolidating their grip on power. The UN representative underscored the deteriorating conditions for Afghanistani women and girls, highlighting that the Taliban’s systematic discrimination has deprived them of their most fundamental rights. He accused the group’s leaders of engaging in widespread corruption, amassing wealth, and indulging in multiple marriages rather than addressing the urgent needs of the people.
According to Faiq, the Taliban have manipulated the name of Islam to justify their oppressive rule, enforcing policies that bear no resemblance to the religion’s true values. He stressed that the group’s decisions are dictated by external influences, exposing their complete lack of political autonomy. Faiq warned that the continuation of such policies will push Afghanistan further into crisis, exacerbating insecurity and economic hardship. He concluded by asserting that Afghanistan’s only viable path forward lies in establishing a system founded on justice, the rule of law, and the will of the people not a regime sustained by coercion and repression.
Since the Taliban’s return to power, they have systematically barred women and girls from education and employment, deepening their exclusion from public life. Over the past three years, their rule has precipitated a severe economic downturn, sparking an unprecedented surge in illegal migration.
