RASC News Agency: In the course of the Taliban’s ongoing retaliatory measures against ex-military personnel, individuals affiliated with this group have recently executed a former soldier named Shafiq in the Dand Patan district of Paktia province, as reported by local sources from Paktia. Sources disclosed to the media on Thursday, Feb 8, that Shafiq, a prominent resident of the “Chapri” village in Paktia’s Dand Patan district, was discovered deceased in Sultanagi village, situated in Ragha within the Samkani district.

According to the sources, Shafiq had previously served as a second lieutenant and second line commander in Paktia province’s border brigade. This occurrence persists despite the Taliban’s assertions of a general amnesty; nevertheless, the group has persisted in apprehending, detaining, torturing, and executing former military personnel over the preceding two years. Various human rights organizations have indicted the Taliban for widespread violations of human rights, particularly concerning women, girls, and former military personnel, actions the group has perpetrated over the last two years.

Following the Taliban’s assumption of power in the country, a considerable number of former government associates have sought refuge in neighboring countries and adjacent regions, driven by apprehensions of this group, exposing them to a plethora of challenges. In light of published reports and the Taliban’s conduct towards former military personnel, the trend of detaining and executing ex-soldiers may persist.
