RASC News Agency: Taliban traffic authorities in Baghlan province have reported a traffic accident that resulted in the deaths of five individuals and left 13 others injured. Mohammad Nazir Abedi, the Taliban traffic chief in Baghlan, stated on Monday, May 20, that the incident occurred the previous night in Pul-e-Khumri, the provincial capital.
According to Abedi, the accident happened when a “580” type vehicle veered off the road and collided with a residential house. The Taliban traffic chief in Baghlan reported that four members of a single family and the driver of the vehicle were killed, and 13 others were injured as a result of the accident. Abedi attributed the cause of the accident to the driver’s recklessness. This incident follows a series of traffic accidents in various provinces that have resulted in numerous fatalities and injuries.
Younis Yusufzai, the spokesperson for the Taliban police command in Laghman province, also reported a fatal accident that occurred the previous night. A vehicle collided with another vehicle of the “Wokser” type on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway in the Khairo Khel area of Laghman. Yusufzai stated that this accident resulted in five fatalities and one injury, attributing the cause to the driver’s negligence.
Driver recklessness, poor road conditions, challenging routes, non-compliance with traffic laws, and drivers’ unfamiliarity with certain routes are cited as common causes of traffic accidents in the country.
