RASC News Agency: Mawlawi Abdul Shakoor, the preacher at Arz-e-Begi Mosque in Kunduz province and a vocal critic of the Taliban group, has asserted that the Taliban detain and torture innocent individuals under various pretexts, including allegations of affiliation with the National Resistance Front and ISIS. In a video tape released to the media on Saturday, Feb 3, Mawlawi Abdul Shakoor stated, “For thirty days, I have been confined to my home, and not a week goes by without someone being killed because of their beliefs.”

Sources indicate that the released video footage dates back nearly a month, and following these statements, Mawlawi Abdul Shakoor was removed from his position as the mosque’s imam by the Taliban. Meanwhile, the Taliban, after seizing control of the country, have repeatedly detained, tortured, and in some cases, killed individuals under various pretexts, especially accusing them of affiliation with the National Resistance Front and ISIS. According to reports, recently, the Taliban killed four Afghanistani citizens who had recently returned from abroad, alleging their affiliation with the ISIS group in the vicinity of Balkh province.

Since taking power, the Taliban have engaged in highly violent and suppressive behavior towards non-Pashtuns, detaining, torturing, and in some cases, killing them. According to some human rights organizations and international authorities, the Taliban have committed widespread human rights violations, especially against women and former military personnel, during their more than two years of rule in the country.
