RASC News Agency: Sohail Shahin, the head of the Taliban’s political office in Doha, convened with Robert Chatterton Dickson, the British Embassy official, to deliberate on the forthcoming Doha meeting, anticipated to be convened by the United Nations regarding Afghanistan under the Taliban’s authority in Doha. Shahin broached this subject on Monday night, January 29th, via a message on the X social media platform.

In his message, the Taliban official conveyed: “Engaged in discussions with Mr. Robert Chatterton Dickson, the British Embassy official to Afghanistan, covering various topics, including bilateral relations. We also deliberated on the special representatives’ meeting for Afghanistan slated for February 18th and 19th in Doha.” It is noteworthy that the United Nations Secretary-General has arranged a meeting in Doha, Qatar’s capital, on February 18th and 19th concerning Afghanistan under the Taliban’s authority. According to Stephane Dujarric, the spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, representatives of Afghanistani women and civil society will also participate in this two-day meeting.

The preceding Doha meeting, nearly eight months ago, occurred without the presence of Afghanistani women representatives. It is significant to mention that meetings pertaining to Afghanistan under the Taliban’s authority have occurred on multiple occasions previously, although the Taliban were not typically extended invitations to most of these meetings.
