RASC News Agency: Seyyed Rasoul Mousavi, the Director General of South Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, has announced that the Taliban group will host a meeting of representatives from neighboring countries and the region next week. Mousavi shared this information on Thursday, January 25th, through a message on the X social media platform. According to Mousavi, the meeting will take place in Kabul and will include representatives from countries such as Iran, Pakistan, Russia, and China.
This meeting is considered significant as it precedes another meeting of country representatives on Afghanistan, scheduled to be held in Doha on February 17th. Mousavi emphasized that the hosting of this meeting demonstrates the neighboring countries’ commitment to the peace, stability, and well-being of the Afghanistani people, as well as the security of the region. However, the Iranian official has provided no further details regarding the content of the meeting.
In the meantime, Zamir Kabulov, the Russian representative on Afghanistan affairs, previously stated that the agenda of this meeting will involve engaging with the Taliban group to establish an inclusive government and combat terrorism and drug-related issues. In addition, the Taliban group has not yet made any statements regarding this matter. Despite their control over the country for over two years, the group has not been recognized by any country and has not received invitations to numerous international gatherings.
