RASC News Agency: Tamim Aasi, the former Deputy Minister of Defense and Strategy in the previous administration, conveyed in his recent remarks that the abhorrent practice of woman abduction for “Jihad al-Nikah” constitutes a shameful historical blemish on the Taliban. Mr. Aasi addressed this matter yesterday, on January 8, reacting to the apprehension and kidnapping of women and girls by Taliban members under charges of Bad Hijab across various parts of Kabul, utilizing a post on the social media platform X.
Continuing his message, he stated: “During their initial period, the Taliban abducted women from the northern regions, and to this day, some of those victims are alive, with a number residing in Pakistan and Afghanistan.” The former Deputy Minister of Defense emphasized that Pashtun leaders must vociferously condemn and denounce this crime; otherwise, they risk being deemed complicit in this transgression, and woman abduction will be categorized as part of their martial culture.
It is noteworthy that Mr. Aasi’s responses come at a time when the Taliban, in recent days, have detained and taken dozens of women and girls from various parts of Kabul on charges of Bad Hijab. It is worth mentioning that following the Taliban’s assumption of control in the country, they perpetrated numerous suppressive actions against women, stripping them of their fundamental rights and actively working to exclude them from society.
According to reports, these restrictions imposed by the Taliban have sparked widespread protests by women, and in some instances, the group has quelled these protests and detained women.
