RASC News Agency: Recently reported that the rise of the ISIS Khorasan Branch remains a significant concern for the United States Air Force’s Central Commander. Air Force Chief of Staff, Alexander Grinkevich, made these remarks during a meeting with defense writers in Washington on October 4th, as reported by the Washington Examiner. Grinkevich stated that although the current threat of ISIS is limited for America, it will likely become a reality in the future. He further explained that the threats posed by the Khorasan branch of ISIS in Afghanistan may increase, as they have the desire and, in some cases, the ability to carry out foreign operations.
According to a US official, the ISIS Khorasan branch poses a significant threat to regional security. The official noted that while there have been some incidents in the region, they do not believe there is a threat beyond it at present. However, the Khorasan branch of ISIS has expressed aspirations to carry out further activities.
Air Force Chief of Staff, Grinkovich, also highlighted that the ISIS branch in Afghanistan is one of the most influential members of the group.
These statements come after US Central Command commander, Gen. Michael Eric Korilla, warned a member of parliament last month that the Khorasan branch of ISIS has the capability to launch attacks against the US and its allies within the next six months.
Meanwhile, a multitude of American officials have voiced their apprehension regarding the presence and operations of ISIS in Afghanistan under the governance of the Taliban group.
