RASC News Agency: The recent diplomatic encounter between Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the special representative and head of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul, and Roza Otunbayeva, the head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, was officially disclosed by the Iranian embassy through social media. The meeting, convened on January 8th, delved into discussions on collaborative initiatives within Afghanistan. The Iranian embassy highlighted that demining efforts, diversification of poppy cultivation, and the promotion of distance education stood among the key topics exchanged during this diplomatic engagement.
Preceding this encounter, Hassan Kazemi Qomi engaged in discussions with Mawlawi Kabir, the deputy prime minister of the Taliban group. The representatives explored various topics, including bilateral relations, regional security, trade, and the provision of transit facilities. Notwithstanding, the Iranian Embassy in Kabul underscored the significance of cyber education and drew attention to the persistent ban on girls’ education in Afghanistan. They brought to light the fact that numerous students have turned to online education as a recourse due to restrictions on their access to traditional educational institutions.
In parallel developments, the American University of Afghanistan recently affirmed its dedication to offering education for Afghanistani students, particularly emphasizing women and girls. The university seeks to fortify the academic landscape in Afghanistan with a focus on empowering women, girls, and the youth in the nation. However, owing to the prohibition on girls’ education in Afghanistan, numerous students who have completed classes 9 and 10 face obstacles in pursuing further studies. The initiative by the American University of Afghanistan strives to confront this challenge, extending educational opportunities to these students.
