RASC News Agency: Some military personnel from the former government, both inside and outside the country, are anticipating a regime change and are prepared to engage in combat against the Taliban group. A former military member revealed to RASC News Agency on Tuesday, Feb 13, that the majority of army officers, police, national security personnel, and other sectors have been eagerly awaiting a change in Taliban governance and are willing to return to Afghanistan.
The former military member adds that many of the former government forces have endured abnormal living conditions both within Afghanistan and abroad, seeking a drastic change in all aspects of their lives. Furthermore, he notes that prominent army officers, commandos, members of the National Security Unit 01, and other units in neighboring countries are engaged in laborious tasks merely to sustain themselves. According to him, “There is currently no way for former government military personnel to escape this chaotic situation, and there is no path to reconciliation with the Taliban group.”
Meanwhile, other sources within Afghanistan confirm that former military personnel are being identified and pursued by the Taliban group daily in the western provinces of Afghanistan, with living conditions becoming extremely challenging for this segment of society. Sources indicate that a significant portion of former government forces have relocated themselves and their families outside of Afghanistan during these transitions, leaving lower-ranked military personnel stranded internally and seeking ways to leave the country.
Simultaneously, Habib Noori, a civil activist in western Afghanistan, informs RASC News Agency, “The injustice currently being inflicted upon former government security forces by Taliban members does not comply with any religious or moral standards.” He also states, “If one looks into Taliban prisons, it becomes evident that crimes are being committed at the highest level.” Noori adds, “Even many of these former military personnel have lost their lives under the ruthless torture inflicted by Taliban members.”
He expresses that over the years, it has become clear that the United Nations and other international bodies have been complacent with the Taliban group, with their only action being to condemn the movements and crimes of its members. However, Rajab Rahimi, a political affairs informed to RASC, states, “Many former government military personnel who are present outside Afghanistan are concerned about the well-being of their families who are at the mercy of the Taliban regime.” He adds, “Taliban individuals have no mercy even for the youngest children of former government military personnel and are conducting house-to-house searches every day.”
Rahimi further emphasizes that the storyline of this saga has been ongoing for some time, beginning with the former government security forces and their families and continuing to this day. In this regard, Taliban authorities in western provinces of Afghanistan declined to comment. It is noteworthy that most former government military personnel have migrated to neighboring countries, particularly Iran, due to security concerns within the country.
