RASC News Agency: The Taliban group’s Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has issued a recent statement addressing the media coverage surrounding an image featuring group members placing women on a Ranger. Published on Monday, January 8th, on the X social media platform, the statement asserts that the picture is unrelated to the arrest of women.
Clarifying the situation, the statement explains that the image captures the process of collecting beggars. After the women undergo biometric identification through fingerprinting, they are intended to receive a monthly allowance or essential goods. The Ministry emphasizes the inconsistency between this information and media claims, asserting that the picture has been misinterpreted.
In response to the recent controversy, the Taliban Group’s Ministry seeks to rectify the narrative and dispel any misconceptions surrounding the picture. They maintain that the media’s portrayal deviates significantly from the truth and lacks accuracy.
Despite social media users sharing a photo connecting it to the Taliban’s arrest of women for not wearing veils in Kabul, the Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, affiliated with the Taliban group, has not provided an explanation. Video footage depicting the arrest of women in Kabul for not wearing hijabs has raised concerns, yet the ministry has remained silent on the matter.
Amidst this, a witness to the Taliban’s arrest of girls and women, ostensibly for not wearing veils, shared her account with the media. According to her, the Taliban took her 19-year-old sister during the arrest, detaining several girls wearing hijabs on their way home from school. The reasons behind their arrest remain unknown, causing confusion as she recounted the events.
