RASC News Agency: According to reports on Saturday, January 6th, from local sources in Daykundi Province, an incident resulting in the death of a young couple due to carbon monoxide poisoning. The arrival of the cold season and the subsequent drop in temperatures across the country have led to an increase in the use of gas and coal for heating purposes. This has also resulted in a rise in fatal incidents caused by carbon monoxide.
The incident occurred in the Shahristan district of Daykundi province, specifically in the village of Khwaja Chasht. The couple, identified as Hafizullah and Latifa, both in their early thirties and newly married, fell victim to carbon monoxide poisoning. It is disheartening to note that similar incidents have occurred in various provinces, claiming the lives of several citizens, particularly couples.
It is crucial to emphasize the dangers associated with the use of gas and coal for heating during the cold season in Afghanistan. Families resort to these sources to keep their homes warm, unaware of the potential risks they pose. The lack of proper ventilation and the use of low-quality fuel contribute to the occurrence of these incidents. The recent case in Warduj district, Badakhshan province, where a bride lost her life and the groom fell into a coma on their wedding night, serves as a stark reminder of the importance of taking precautions and ensuring the safe use of fuel.
