RASC News Agency: The Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations for Counter-Terrorism, at the beginning of the meeting of the Security Council of this organization with the focus on ISIS threats to international peace and security, announced the complex growth of ISIS in Afghanistan and expressed his concern about the acquisition of advanced weapons by the terrorists in Afghanistan.
Vladimir Voronkov, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations for Counter-Terrorism, said: “Beyond Africa, ISIS is growing in a complex manner in Afghanistan. The fear of weapons and ammunition falling into the hands of terrorists is currently being realized. In addition to the presence and activity of about 20 terrorist groups in this country, the repressive measures by the Taliban authorities, the lack of sustainable development and the humanitarian situation pose a significant threat to the region and the world.
The permanent representative of the United States of America to the United Nations, who presides over the meeting of the Security Council, expressed concern about the growth of ISIS in the world, referring to the findings of the Anti-Terrorism Committee, and said that there should be no place for this group in Afghanistan.
Linda Thomas Greenfield, the permanent representative of the United States to the United Nations, emphasized: “Afghanistan should not provide a safe haven to terrorist groups, including Al-Qaeda and ISIS, so that they have a sanctuary to carry out attacks.”
In the meantime, the representative of Russia in the meeting of the Security Council sharply criticized the policies of the United States in Afghanistan and said that the weapons that they brought to Afghanistan to suppress terrorism are now in the hands of the terrorists.
Maria Zabolotskaya, Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, emphasized: “Al-Qaeda has never been successfully defeated, and now ISIS has also been created in Afghanistan.” Western weapons that were brought to this country to fight terrorism; it fell into the hands of terrorists in other places; which threatens security and peace in South and Central Asia.”
Before this, the head of the foreign relations committee of the United States of America Congress has repeatedly expressed his concern about the acquisition of the remaining American weapons in Afghanistan by the terrorists and said that these weapons are sold to other countries.
