The event drew a significant number of writers, poets, and scholars from the Herat region. In his address, the head of the Writers’ Union expressed appreciation for the remarkable progress facilitated by TIKA and Turkey.

He underscored the challenges faced by the Union before the renovation, encompassing structural issues, heating, and electricity. The coordinator of TIKA’s office in Herat emphasized the significance of investing in administrative and civil infrastructure, emphasizing its enduring impact on the people and future generations. TIKA reiterated its commitment to supporting cultural and social development in Afghanistan through its backing of the Writers’ Union, anticipating an upswing in creative output as a result of capacity-building endeavors.

The president of Galip University also extended appreciation to TIKA and pledged continued support for the Writers’ Union, vowing to fortify joint efforts to enhance Afghanistan’s literary landscape. The renovation of the Herat Writers’ Union building not only carries symbolic weight for Afghanistani literature but also exemplifies the sustained collaboration between TIKA and Afghanistan.
