Trump: The Taliban Did Not Fulfill Their Obligations

RASC News Agency: Donald Trump, during a debate with Kamala Harris, criticized the Taliban for failing to meet their obligations under the agreement signed with the United States. Trump stated, “The agreement was terminated by us because they did not deliver on their promises to America.” He also condemned the Biden administration, claiming it executed “the worst retreat and, in my opinion, the most disgraceful moment in our country’s history.”

In his defense, Trump argued that while there was an agreement in place, his administration did not leave American soldiers behind, did not abandon many Americans, and did not leave behind $85 billion worth of military equipment. The debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, the leading candidates in the U.S. presidential election, occurred on Tuesday, September 20, at 9:00 PM Washington time.

The debate addressed a range of topics, including domestic U.S. issues, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Israel and Hamas, and Afghanistan. Trump asserted that following the agreement with the Taliban, no American soldiers were killed in 18 months. He stated, “I told Abdul Ghani Baradar not to kill our soldiers, or it would cause problems for them. As a result, no American soldiers were killed in 18 months.” The Doha Agreement, signed in 2020 during Trump’s presidency, was the subject of much debate. Trump criticized the Biden administration for failing to implement the agreement’s terms, saying, “The agreement was conditional and phased, but it was not adhered to.”

Kamala Harris, on the other hand, strongly criticized Trump’s handling of Afghanistan, accusing him of bypassing the Afghanistan government and “negotiating directly with a terrorist organization known as the Taliban.” Trump defended his actions, asserting that he engaged with the Taliban because they were killing Americans. Harris avoided a direct response to whether she felt responsible for the chaotic withdrawal, stating, “I supported Biden’s decision to withdraw from Afghanistan.”

Harris continued, “Four presidents promised to do this, and Joe Biden followed through. As a result, American taxpayers are no longer paying $300 million a day for an endless war.” She also described the agreement made during Trump’s presidency as one of the weakest, saying, “Trump calls himself a deal maker, but even his advisors said it was a weak and disastrous agreement.” Harris added that Trump even negotiated with the Taliban and invited them to Camp David, a symbol of American democratic values.
