RASC News Agency: On Monday, January 1st, Mawlawi Sediqullah Shahin, the commander overseeing the Taliban group’s security operations in Ghor province, conveyed to the media the substantial obliteration of illicit substances. The local Taliban officials in Ghor province had recently declared the incineration of 224 kilograms of “F” drugs. These substances were amassed by the group’s forces from various locales within the province. Additionally, the Taliban’s anti-narcotics units had unearthed and incinerated 2,600 kilograms of yama, 11,431 kilograms of lime, and 8,640 kilograms of methamphetamine.
The Taliban’s security commander underscored the diligent endeavors of their anti-narcotics forces in Ghor province to eradicate drug trafficking comprehensively. They are actively engaged in the collection of the yama plant, a common component in drug production. Over the course of the year, the Taliban forces in Ghor province have uncovered and dismantled numerous narcotics facilities associated with the Yama plant. However, recent reports indicated that the Taliban’s Ghor province commander had absconded with some of the seized narcotics from the provincial command.
It is noteworthy that the Taliban group has faced longstanding accusations of exploiting drug production and trafficking as a substantial source of revenue. Despite these allegations, they have consistently asserted their commitment to combatting the drug trade. This contradictory stance has elicited concerns among neighboring countries and the broader region. Furthermore, emerging reports suggest that Afghanistan, under the control of the Taliban group, stands as the largest producer of methamphetamine-type drugs. Taliban officials vehemently deny these reports, dismissing them as far from reality.
