Young Man in Parwan Commits Suicide Due to Poverty and Unemployment

RASC News Agency: Local sources in Parwan report that a young man in the province committed suicide due to severe poverty and unemployment. The incident occurred on Wednesday, when the young man, identified as Parviz, ended his life by ingesting rat poison in the village of “Tutumdara Ulia,” central Parwan. According to sources, Parviz was suffering from extreme financial hardship and mental distress, which led him to take his life. Taliban officials in Parwan have yet to comment on the incident.

This tragedy follows another suicide on the same day, where a 12-year-old boy in the Shighnan district of Badakhshan hanged himself. Reports suggest that the root causes of these suicides are primarily poverty, unemployment, and the psychological pressures stemming from these conditions. Since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, the rate of suicides has sharply increased, particularly among young people who face relentless poverty and joblessness.

The Taliban has failed to create employment opportunities for the youth, leaving many frustrated and hopeless. As a result, countless families struggle to secure even basic necessities, with the toll of poverty claiming numerous lives. Meanwhile, the Taliban’s focus remains on enforcing strict social codes rather than addressing the dire economic situation, leaving the populace in despair.
