RASC News Agency: Amidst the surging levels of criminal activities spanning diverse provinces, the Ministry of Interior’s Anti-Crime Police, operating under the Taliban’s jurisdiction, has recently declared the identification and apprehension of 26 individuals implicated in criminal offenses across six provinces. The Bakhtar News Agency, under Taliban control, reported on Monday, January 1, the arrest of these individuals, underscoring that they were detained in distinct operations conducted in the regions of Herat, Kabul, Takhar, Kandahar, Ghazni, and Faryab provinces.
As per information furnished by the Taliban’s police, these individuals have been seized for a spectrum of crimes, encompassing armed robberies, unlawful possession of weapons, smuggling, drug cultivation and trafficking. Additionally, they have faced identification, arrest, and incarceration for charges related to abduction and murder. This development unfolds against a backdrop of an unprecedented surge in criminal activities across provinces in recent months, triggering substantial concerns among the nation’s populace, with some condemning the Taliban for their perceived recklessness.
It is of note that certain citizens have conveyed to the media that a substantial number of individuals involved in diverse criminal activities are affiliated with the Taliban. This assertion stands in contrast to consistent denials from the Taliban and its authorities. Furthermore, it is pertinent to mention that notwithstanding the Taliban’s persistent claims of ensuring nationwide security and the reduction of drug cultivation and trafficking, reports highlighting their failure in providing security and curbing the narcotics trade continue to emerge.
