RASC News Agency: The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has validated Pakistan’s stance regarding the refuge given to terrorist groups in Afghanistan. The UNSC also confirmed that the Pakistani Taliban, known as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), are receiving training in Afghanistan.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed this issue during a press briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, August 1. She noted that the UNSC report indicates that the TTP could become a new regional threat. The spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s call for the Afghanistani Taliban to take immediate, effective, and robust measures against terrorist groups, including the TTP. She emphasized that the Afghanistani Taliban must ensure that Afghanistan soil is not used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
The UN Security Council reported that Pakistan has experienced over 800 terrorist attacks in recent months, adding that the terrorist threats emanating from Afghanistan have heightened concerns among many UN member states. According to the UNSC report, the collaboration between the TTP and the Afghanistani Taliban has intensified, particularly in the sharing of manpower and training facilities.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Afghanistani Taliban of providing sanctuary to the TTP within Afghanistan, an accusation that the Afghanistani Taliban have consistently denied.
