RASC News Agency: In the aftermath of the catastrophic earthquake in Herat and its subsequent aftershocks, the United Nations recently announced that it has received $37.5 million to aid the earthquake victims, underscoring the insufficiency of this amount. On Wednesday, November 29, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Afghanistan (OCHA) reported the necessity of $173 million to assist the earthquake-affected people in Herat, with only $37.5 million received thus far.

As per the information provided by this organization, assistance has been extended to 242,400 individuals impacted by the October 7th earthquake in the province of Herat. OCHA persistently emphasizes the need for a more substantial budget to address the challenges confronting all the affected individuals in Herat and urgently calls for assistance from pertinent organizations.

This unfolds as the earthquake on October 7th and its subsequent aftershocks in Herat have inflicted significant human and financial losses on the residents of this province. It is noteworthy that numerous houses crumbled into rubble due to this earthquake, rendering many families homeless, currently enduring the winter cold under tents.

Despite substantial aid from various countries, including Iran, China, Turkey, and others to the people of Herat, the residents of this province persistently voice grievances about their dire living conditions. It is imperative to highlight that a substantial number of Herat residents denounce the Taliban group, accusing them of misappropriating aid and distributing it arbitrarily among the people.
