They have called upon the international community to not forget the plight of women and girls in their country. In a statement released on Monday night, November 13th, the movement highlighted the alarming increase in violence, detention, torture, and even killings of women by the Taliban group over the past two years.
The movement further emphasized that the Taliban’s agenda aims to systematically marginalize women from society, disregarding the progress and achievements made over the past two decades. The declaration stated that educated women and professionals who have dedicated their lives to serving women are now compelled to disregard their abilities, talents, and skills due to the restrictions imposed by the Taliban on girls and women.
The movement earnestly appealed to human rights organizations and international institutions to give serious attention to the oppressive restrictions that Afghanistani women face. They stressed that it is unjust for the world to forget about them and their needs. Ignoring women and their rights, according to the movement, constitutes the gravest human crime against half of Afghanistan’s population.
Despite numerous condemnations from global authorities, the Taliban group has consistently imposed severe restrictions on women and girls, depriving them of their right to education and employment. The Taliban has justified these actions by claiming that women’s rights are provided within the framework of Islamic rules in Afghanistan.
