RASC News Agency: In recognition of the International Day of the Girl, Rina Amiri, the US special representative for Afghanistan women’s affairs, expressed deep concern regarding the oppressive policies enforced by the Taliban, which present a grave threat to the rights of women and girls worldwide.
On Wednesday, October 11, Amiri took to social media platform X to voice her concerns, drawing attention to the alarming consequences resulting from the stringent measures implemented by the Taliban. She emphasized the potential for other entities to adopt similar practices, further exacerbating the violation of women’s rights.
Amiri called for a united and meaningful effort to combat these policies, emphasizing the benefits that such a struggle would yield for all societies. She commemorated the International Day of the Girl by expressing heartfelt concern for Afghanistani girls who continue to face significant obstacles in accessing education due to the persistent disregard shown by the Taliban towards both domestic and international appeals.
The US special representative firmly rejected the reasons and justifications put forth by the Taliban in Afghanistan and worldwide, deeming them wholly unacceptable. She underscored America’s unwavering support for promoting equal educational opportunities for girls in Afghanistan, despite the severe restrictions and policies imposed by the group since their resurgence in power. These restrictions and policies have had detrimental effects on women’s education and employment prospects.
Regrettably, despite repeated calls from the global community and internal figures, this restrictive measure has remained in place for over two years with no signs of being rescinded.
