RASC News Agency: The World Health Organization has warned about the lack of funds in Afghanistan and said that if the lack of funds continues, millions of citizens of this country will not have life-saving health services.
On Sunday, September 24, the World Health Organization wrote in a message on the X channel that the organization’s partnership with donors and partners has brought vital health care to Afghanistan.
This institution has called for an increase in investment in providing health services in Afghanistan, especially in deprived areas that are severely lacking in resources and vulnerable due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
WHO added: “After decades of instability exacerbated by severe drought and natural disasters, Afghanistan is currently facing a protracted humanitarian crisis, with millions living in poverty or lack of access to health and food, putting them at risk severe malnutrition and the spread of disease.”
This international health organization has stated that it needs 125 million dollars in additional funding to continue meeting basic health needs until the end of 2023.
According to the World Health Organization, 28.8 million people in Afghanistan need urgent aid, while this figure was 18.4 million before the Taliban took over in August 2021.
This is despite the fact that earlier aid organizations had warned about the lack of funds in Afghanistan.
Earlier, “World Vision” organization said that since the beginning of August this year, less than 25% of the 3.2 billion dollars budget needed for 2023 has been provided to aid organizations.
With the Taliban regaining control over Afghanistan, international health organizations have expressed concern about the collapse of the country’s health system.
