An Organization Reports: Women Under Taliban Rule Have Become Despondent

RASC News Agency: The “Strengthening the Welfare of Women and Children in Afghanistan” organization has announced that since the Taliban’s return to power and the imposition of their restrictive measures, Afghanistani women and girls have been left in despair, losing hope in their future. Through a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the organization highlighted that one of the most devastating consequences of the Taliban’s regime is the denial of education to women. This exclusion has had a profound emotional impact on them.

The organization emphasized that girls’ education is not merely a means to employment, but the bedrock of empowerment and self-realization an opportunity the Taliban have cruelly taken away. The “Strengthening the Welfare of Women and Children group condemns the Taliban as traitors and violators of Afghanistani women’s rights. It further declared that the Taliban’s presence in Afghanistan has inflicted significant harm on the mental well-being of countless women.

The group stated, “The re-establishment of Taliban rule has barred women from employment; those who were previously the sole providers for their families have been left utterly ‘destitute’ due to the Taliban’s oppressive policies.” Additionally, the organization noted, “The return of the Taliban has not only heightened the levels of violence and human rights violations across Afghanistan but has also exacerbated domestic abuse, forced marriages, and honor killings, as the Taliban continue to enforce their regressive social norms. Women who strive to assert their rights or speak out against these injustices are met with brutal consequences, including violence, imprisonment, and even death at the hands of the Taliban.”

Since their rise to power, the Taliban have systematically stripped Afghanistani citizens, particularly women, of their basic rights under the guise of implementing Sharia law. In a more recent edict, the Taliban have gone so far as to declare it “forbidden” for women to raise their voices in public spaces where men are present, effectively silencing them in any mixed-gender environment.
