RASC News Agency: The representatives of the Commonwealth of Independent States have expressed their concern about the current situation in Afghanistan and have warned about the presence and activities of terrorist groups and their influence in Central Asia.
Representatives of the intelligence services of the Commonwealth of Independent States have expressed these concerns on Wednesday, September 20, during a conference held to discuss the fight against terrorism and extremism in Kyrgyzstan.
In this conference, they have warned about the infiltration of terrorist groups from Afghanistan to Central Asia.
The participants of this meeting expressed concern about the current situation in Afghanistan and united to strengthen multilateral cooperation.
This conference was held in Bishkek by the National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan and the Counter-Terrorism Center of the Commonwealth of Independent States with the presence of the intelligence services of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Representatives of India, Iran and Pakistan, although they are not members of the Commonwealth of Independent States; were also present in this meeting.
It is said that this was the first conference of the Commonwealth of Independent States on the fight against terrorism and extremism.
The website of the Commonwealth of Independent States wrote: “Participants expressed their concern about the situation in Afghanistan and a number of countries in the Middle East, which creates tension on the border of the Commonwealth of Independent States.”
Meanwhile, another issue that the independent countries of the Commonwealth of Nations expressed concern about the increased risk of international terrorist organizations infiltrating the territory of Central Asian countries, the smuggling of weapons, ammunition, and the use of technology by terrorists, including artificial intelligence.
On this basis, the Commonwealth of Independent States agreed to develop cooperation with the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization with the aim of fighting terrorism in Central Asia.
