RASC News Agency: Maris Payne, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia and the longest-serving female senator in the country’s political sphere, has announced her retirement from politics in a ceremony attended by Australian politicians.
In this ceremony, she asked the politicians of Australia and the world to be aware of the widespread violation of human rights, especially the rights of women in Afghanistan and not to ignore it.
Maris Payne pointed out the inattention of world governments to the situation in Afghanistan in the last two years and said that the failure to act against authoritarian governments is inexcusable. “We must be absolutely focused on this threat,” he stressed.
Maris Payne, who has worked in the Australian political apparatus for 26 years, is known as the country’s first female Minister of Defense (2015) and second female Minister of Foreign Affairs (2018-2022).
It should be noted that while human rights activists have always asked the countries of the world, especially the United States, to cut off the Taliban group’s access to the money that reaches Afghanistan in the name of humanitarian aid and to use pressure levers against the inhumane behavior of this group in Afghanistan. The countries during this time, the world has focused more on interaction with the Taliban group.
It should be noted that it has been more than two years since the gates of schools were closed to girls in Afghanistan, and about one year since universities were closed.
In this process, women have been excluded from all spheres of social, political, cultural relations and even common and everyday entertainment.
