RASC: Following extensive statements regarding the situation in Afghanistan at the Security Council meeting, this time the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic to the United Nations expressed his concerns about ISIS and Al-Qaeda and the expansion of drug production in Afghanistan at the Security Council meeting on Wednesday.
Amir Sayeed Irwani says that the neighboring countries and the region feel seriously threatened by this area.
According to Sharq newspaper, the representative of Iran in the United Nations added that the prohibition of drug trafficking in Afghanistan has not been completed and illegal drug trade is still stable in this country.
He said that he is worried about the expansion of laboratories for the production and smuggling of industrial substances such as methamphetamine in Afghanistan.
In addition to criticizing the policies of the Taliban against Afghanistani women, the representative of the Islamic Republic also criticized the group’s defiance in forming an inclusive government with true ethnic and political unity.
According to Sharq, Irwani said in an unprecedented statement: “Afghanistani authorities are trying to destroy the cultural, linguistic and historical links of Afghanistanis with the Persian language and impose the dominance of Pashtun culture on other ethnic groups.”
In addition, he said that the Taliban group plans to change the population structure of Hazara and Tajik provinces.
Nevertheless, Amir Sayeed Irwani asked the international community to engage constructively with the Taliban group.
He added that the isolation of the Taliban was not for the benefit of the people of Afghanistan and that this country is facing an even greater crisis.
It should be noted that the Taliban group had claimed some time ago that the production of narcotics in Afghanistan under the control of this group has significantly decreased, but the countries of the region have not accepted the Taliban’s claim and have repeatedly expressed concern about this area.
