RASC News Agency: The World Health Organization and the Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that the polio vaccination campaign has started in the northern part of Afghanistan.
According to the statements of these two international organizations, the polio vaccination process for children has started today, Monday (August 28) in Balkh, Samangan, Jawzjan, Faryab and Sarpol provinces in the north of the country.
Based on information from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), children under the age of five are covered by this health program.
Kamal Shah Seyed, the communication manager of UNICEF’s Children’s Paralysis Program, says that the polio vaccination program for children in the northern region of the country continues until Thursday.
These organizations ask the local people and residents to cooperate with the employees and vaccinators in the field so that this process can be implemented successfully.
It should be mentioned that according to the information of health organizations, since the beginning of this year, 23 cases of polio have been recorded in Afghanistan.
According to the reports of the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund, nearly 10 million children throughout Afghanistan will be covered in this polio vaccination program.
The polio vaccination campaign has ended in a number of provinces of the country in this period, and it is going to start in a number of other provinces in the coming days, which will be applied from house to house or mosque to mosque.
Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only countries in the world that have not yet succeeded in eradicating polio, and positive cases of polio are recorded in these countries every year.
