RASC: The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that one out of every three Afghanistani children of school age is currently deprived of going to school.

On Monday, June 26, UNICEF published a video about the organization’s activities in Afghanistan and said that 60% of Afghanistani children who are deprived of going to school are girls.

Although UNICEF has not determined the exact number of Afghanistani children who are denied going to school, and no accurate statistics have been conducted in recent years, this United Nations agency has estimated that about 3.5 million Afghanistani children are able to go to school, which they are deprived from going school.

UNICEF has said that in 2023, it has provided and distributed textbooks, pens and educational materials to six million children in Afghanistan.

In addition, this institution has said that from January 2022 until now, it has provided 5661 modern tents that were used for schools for the education sector in Afghanistan.

This is despite the fact that after the Taliban took control of the country, girls above the sixth grade were also banned from going to school.
