RASC News Agency: Some residents of Kandahar province say that some local officials of the Taliban group in this province have “personal prisons”.
These residents have told the media on Wednesday, August 23, that some local employees and soldiers of the previous government have been imprisoned in their private prisons by the Taliban group.
Residents of Kandahar province state that the reason for this action of the Taliban group is “personal enmity, fighting over land” and some “other excuses”.
According to local residents, the Taliban group has still imprisoned a number of residents of Kandahar province “for no crime” in the government, prisons of this province and the files of these people have not been received for months.
The officials of the Taliban group in Kandahar province have not said anything about this so far.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) announced in a report that there were more than 424 cases of arbitrary arrest and detention of former government officials and members of the former security forces, and 144 cases of torture since the Taliban regained control, has registered in Afghanistan.
This organization has also recorded at least 800 cases of human rights violations, including 218 extrajudicial killings and 14 cases of forced disappearances, from August 15, 2021 to June 30 of this year.
On the other hand, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, in response to the UNAMA report on the human rights situation in Afghanistan, said that the Taliban group “betrayed” the trust of Afghanistani citizens and continued to violate human rights.
In response to the UNAMA report, the “Purple Saturday’s” protest movement has said that this report is not complete and asks the prestigious international institutions, especially the International Criminals Court, to conduct extensive investigations against the crimes of the Taliban group and provide justice.
