RASC News Agency: Hafiz Mansur, a prominent Afghanistani politician and former member of the Afghanistani House of Representatives, has claimed that the Taliban have launched a large-scale military operation in Badakhshan Province following the movement’s decision to designate Juma Khan Fateh as a “rebel.”
In a statement published on his Facebook page, Mansur wrote that Badakhshan is “pregnant with a major development,” asserting that reports from the province indicate significant Taliban military movements across multiple fronts.
According to Mansur, credible information suggests that a Taliban brigade has been dispatched through the Shighnan corridor, while another contingent is advancing from Raghistan, and a third force is moving toward Nusay District from the Shewa direction.
He further alleged that, as part of the operation, two suicide operatives were sent from Baharak District to Nusay two days ago.
Mansur stated that these developments coincide with a high-level meeting held in Faizabad, the provincial capital of Badakhshan. According to his account, the gathering included several senior Taliban officials, among them Fasihuddin Fitrat, Ibrahim Sadr, Abdul Haq Wasiq, the Taliban intelligence chief, and Amanuddin Mansour.
The former parliamentarian also claimed that Juma Khan Fateh has begun preparations to resist any attempt to detain him. He asserted that supporters and allies of Fateh across eleven areas of Badakhshan have pledged their backing and have committed to mobilizing should armed confrontations erupt.
If confirmed, such developments would signal a potentially serious internal security challenge for the Taliban in one of Afghanistan’s most strategically significant northeastern provinces. Badakhshan has long been viewed as a region with complex local power dynamics, strong community networks, and a history of resistance to centralized authority.
The claims also come amid growing reports of internal tensions within Taliban ranks and increasing dissatisfaction in several provinces over governance, security policies, and local administrative decisions. However, no independent evidence has yet emerged to substantiate Mansur’s assertions.
As of the publication of this report, neither the Taliban nor independent verification sources have commented on the allegations. Consequently, the details surrounding the reported military deployments, the alleged designation of Juma Khan Fateh as a rebel, and preparations for a possible confrontation remain unverified.
Given the absence of confirmation from neutral observers, the claims should be treated with caution until additional evidence becomes available.
