Increasing Restrictions on Afghanistani Immigrants Living in Pakistan

RASC: According to the reliable sources of Pakistani news newspaper, the Ministry of Interior of Pakistan plans to increase the strictures on illegal Afghanistani immigrants in Pakistan.

This ministry has warned that illegal immigrants are being sent to Afghanistan.

This newspaper, citing sources in Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior, says that the purpose of these arrests are those illegal Afghanistani immigrants who were involved in terrorist and anti-government incidents, including the [demonstrations of Imran Khan’s supporters] on May 9.

In the latest report of the United Nations, the number of Afghanistani refugees who entered Pakistan after the Taliban regained control is said to be nearly 600,000.

A source in the Ministry of Interior told News newspaper: “According to the information of the intelligence agencies, more than 23,000 Afghanistani live illegally in Islamabad and its suburbs.”

A senior police official of Islamabad confirmed the action of arresting illegal immigrants and told News that this action includes all illegal immigrants in this country.

However, due to the large presence of Afghanistani immigrants in Pakistan, this action affects Afghanistani more than any other group.


Earlier, the Human Rights Commission of Afghanistan called the expulsion of Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan an unfortunate act and said that the lives of some refugees may be at risk of death.
