RASC: Sources in Nimroz Province say that a former member of the army was arrested by the Taliban on the Nimroz border while returning from Iran.
According to the sources, the name of this former soldier is Salahuddin Sattari and he is a resident of Mianshahr village in Varsaj city of Takhar province.
A source told Rask today, Saturday, May 6, that Salahuddin had gone to Iran after the fall of the republic and was arrested by the Taliban intelligence in Nimroz yesterday when he returned to the country.
The reason for the arrest of this former military is not yet clear.
He worked as an officer in the Ministry of Defense during the republican regime.
The Taliban have arrested, imprisoned and tortured former soldiers many times before and in some cases they have been accused of murdering them. As it was reported last week about the arrest of a former army member in Parwan.
