RASC News Agency: Amid an alarming escalation of targeted and clandestine assassinations of Panjshiri residents in Kabul and across other provinces, the Panjshir Women’s Movement has issued a grave denunciation of these violent acts, describing them as deliberate attempts to terrorize and silence dissent. Over the past week, multiple members of the Panjshiri community have been systematically eliminated under suspicious and calculated circumstances. One such victim, Samiullah a resident of Panjshir’s first district was fatally shot by unidentified gunmen on Friday, August 1, 2025, in Kabul’s eleventh police district. Close family and associates emphasize that Samiullah was a law-abiding citizen with no personal animosities, engaged solely in his everyday life, making his murder a stark symbol of targeted repression.
This assassination is part of a broader, deeply disturbing pattern of systematic violence against Panjshiri citizens. Previously, Haji Mukhtar was detained by the Taliban for several days, subjected to brutal torture, and ultimately executed in cold blood in Kabul. Similarly, Palwan Tamjid, a promising young athlete from Panjshir, recently died under suspicious circumstances, further fueling concerns about the regime’s covert campaign of elimination. The Panjshir Women’s Movement asserts that the direct or indirect involvement of Taliban security and intelligence services in orchestrating these killings is incontrovertible. The current regime, which lacks any legitimate political mandate, employs clandestine and institutionalized methods of intimidation, coercion, and physical elimination designed to crush opposition and terrorize ethnic communities, particularly those from Panjshir a historic stronghold of resistance against Taliban tyranny.
This wave of political assassinations and enforced disappearances reflects a sinister strategy by the Taliban leadership to consolidate power through systematic terror, ethnic cleansing, and the destruction of any social fabric that threatens their ideological monopoly. These actions not only violate fundamental human rights but also constitute blatant war crimes that demand immediate international attention. In expressing profound solidarity with the grieving families, the Panjshir Women’s Movement urgently appeals to the United Nations, international human rights organizations, and the global community to break their silence and exert decisive diplomatic, political, and legal pressure on the Taliban regime. It is imperative to initiate independent investigations, hold perpetrators accountable, and prevent the continuation of these gross human rights abuses.
Far from being isolated incidents, these targeted killings are emblematic of the Taliban’s broader campaign of repression, which includes the suppression of women’s rights, the obliteration of free media, and the ruthless persecution of ethnic and political minorities. The international community’s failure to respond robustly only emboldens this violent regime, prolonging Afghanistan’s descent into chaos and despair. Only sustained global condemnation and concerted action can halt the Taliban’s reign of terror and restore hope for justice, peace, and inclusivity in Afghanistan’s fractured society.
