RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s heavy military presence in Panjshir province has led to severe hardships for local residents, significantly disrupting daily life and imposing stringent restrictions on personal freedoms. According to the Panjshir Global Council, civilians are now forbidden from leaving their homes, gathering in public spaces, or keeping businesses open after 8:00 PM. In a recent statement, the council reported: “21,000 Taliban troops have been deployed across 700 military outposts in Panjshir, making life increasingly unbearable for the local population.”
A newly released report by the council’s Human Rights Committee highlights an unprecedented decline in human rights conditions within the province, historically known as the center of resistance against the Taliban. The report details a sharp escalation in harassment, intimidation, and movement restrictions, particularly in the first two months of 2025. Under new Taliban-imposed curfew laws, residents are now strictly confined to their homes from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The Taliban’s enforcement of martial law has not only disrupted daily life but has also created an atmosphere of fear and oppression across the province.
With over 21,000 Taliban fighters patrolling the region, the situation for Panjshir’s residents has become increasingly dire. Local sources report that Taliban forces frequently subject civilians to arbitrary interrogations, conduct warrantless detentions, and imprison individuals under vague or fabricated charges. The Taliban have previously been accused of systematically suppressing civil liberties, interfering with cultural traditions, and banning public gatherings, further deepening the region’s humanitarian crisis.
