RASC News Agency: The European Union (EU) has announced that its first humanitarian aid flight of 2025 has successfully arrived in Kabul, carrying a shipment of 100 tons of medical supplies and life-saving pharmaceuticals. The aid was delivered on the night of Monday, March 17, through a coordinated effort with the EU’s financial and logistical partners. Accompanying the announcement, the EU released images of the humanitarian aid, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to supporting Afghanistan’s most vulnerable populations. In 2024, the EU had also dispatched at least four humanitarian aid consignments to the country, aiming to alleviate the worsening humanitarian crisis.
This latest assistance arrives amid growing concerns over Afghanistan’s collapsing healthcare system. The World Health Organization (WHO) recently issued a stark warning, stating that an acute funding shortfall could force the closure of 80% of WHO-supported health facilities, potentially leaving 1.8 million Afghanistani citizens without access to primary healthcare services. Furthermore, on March 18, 2025, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that the Japanese government had pledged $2.5 million to support Afghanistani children, underscoring the international community’s continued efforts to address the country’s humanitarian crisis.
However, despite the steady flow of foreign humanitarian aid, Afghanistan remains entrenched in worsening poverty and economic despair under Taliban rule. Instead of addressing the pressing humanitarian needs of the population, the Taliban has intensified ethnic and political repression, while simultaneously imposing harsh taxation policies on citizens. Meanwhile, the group’s leadership remains preoccupied with personal luxuries, including multiple marriages, while millions struggle for survival.
