RASC News Agency: Taliban Defense Minister Mullah Yaqoob Mujahid engaged in discussions with a high-level delegation from India’s Ministry of External Affairs in Kabul, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations between Afghanistan and India. This diplomatic visit takes place amid heightened tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan, a country historically at odds with India. In an official statement, the Taliban’s Ministry of Defense reported that Mujahid met with the Indian delegation on Wednesday, November 6. The delegation was led by J.P. Singh, Joint Secretary in India’s Ministry of External Affairs. Both sides underscored a mutual commitment to expanding ties, particularly in humanitarian cooperation and other areas of strategic interest.
The statement also conveyed that Mujahid and the Indian delegation emphasized their shared intention to “enhance bilateral engagement between Afghanistan and India.” The Ministry of Defense did not disclose further specifics about additional topics discussed. The Indian delegation had previously met with former Afghanistani President Hamid Karzai, who reportedly advocated for India’s continued support in educational programs for Afghanistani youth, increased trade exchanges, and the facilitation of travel between the two nations.
The visit of the Indian delegation to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan unfolds against the backdrop of rising tension between the Taliban and Pakistan regarding the alleged presence of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leaders and operatives within Afghanistan borders. Senior Pakistani officials, including the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and Defense Minister, have recently issued strong accusations against the Taliban administration, holding it responsible for escalating security challenges within Pakistan.
In response to these allegations, the Taliban countered with a resolute statement: “Handle your own affairs, and do not shift the burden of your shortcomings onto us.”
