RASC News Agency: During the Moscow meeting, Fawzia Kofi, a former representative of the Afghanistan House of Representatives, vehemently condemned the oppressive actions of the Taliban towards women. She brought attention to the staggering number of decrees, surpassing 80, issued by the group to suppress women’s presence and activities within society. Kofi’s criticism of the Taliban was scathing, likening their actions to suffocating women’s very existence.
Moreover, Kofi emphasized the necessity of transferring power to the Taliban while highlighting the group’s self-destructive tendencies witnessed during their previous rule in the 1990s. She underscored the two-year history of Afghanistani women’s civil struggles following the Taliban’s resurgence, emphasizing that challenging the group is crucial for bringing about change in the country. Kofi stressed that the Taliban’s fear of civil resistance surpasses that of warfare, emphasizing the need for collective movements to achieve victory.
In her address to the Taliban, Kofi reminded them of Afghanistan’s historical evidence that no group can govern the nation solely through coercion. The Moscow meeting, attended by prominent figures opposing the Taliban within Russia, aimed to seek a fundamental solution to the political crisis in Afghanistan. While previous attempts have been made, the collapse of the Republic regime has intensified the urgency for a resolution. Kofi’s words serve as a stark reminder that the struggle for women’s rights and political stability in Afghanistan continues unabated.
