RASC News Agency: The Afghanistani Women’s Coordination Association has made an urgent appeal for greater unity among Afghanistani women activists around the world. In a statement issued on Monday, October 14, the association emphasized the importance of collective action in the face of ongoing gender apartheid in Afghanistan. The statement noted, “At a time when gender-based apartheid is intensifying in Afghanistan, some women, under the banner of ‘women’s rights activism,’ are unfortunately caught up in unhealthy rivalries and divisions.”
The association expressed deep concern about the Taliban regime’s oppressive measures and the immense pressure on women in the country. It urged all women’s rights advocates to set aside their differences and focus on fostering solidarity and cooperation. According to the association, certain groups and individuals are actively working to create division and discord among Afghanistani women activists, aiming to weaken their unified resistance. The organization highlighted, “Now is the moment for Afghanistani women to unite under a common cause and engage in a shared struggle for freedom, justice, and equality in Afghanistan.” It reiterated its commitment to ensuring that no one is allowed to create divisions among Afghanistani women, declaring this their “sacred mission.”
It is noteworthy that, just as the Taliban’s political and military opponents are fragmented across various factions, Afghanistani women the primary victims of the Taliban’s regime have been divided into numerous groups. All of these groups are advocating for the restoration of Afghanistani women’s rights under the Taliban. Some believe that certain countries, which publicly support these groups by day but covertly back the Taliban by night, have deliberately fostered this division to prevent unified resistance against the Taliban.
