RASC News Agency: A protesting woman has revealed that the Taliban, wielding the power of their weapons, are committing assaults on women and girls across Afghanistan, forcibly incarcerating some based on fabricated accusations and subjecting them to sexual exploitation. Mahtab Eftekhari, an outspoken female protester, highlighted a concerning “35% increase in sexual assaults by Taliban fighters on women and girls in Afghanistan,” stating that the Taliban use the threat of their weapons to perpetrate these heinous acts.
She claimed to have personally witnessed Taliban militants entering homes and beauty salons in Kabul under the guise of searches, only to “molest the women’s bodies.” She has called on the United Nations and the international community to exert pressure on the Taliban. Since the Taliban’s takeover of the country, the oppression and sexual violence have intensified. The Taliban and their affiliates have resorted to various accusations and methods to detain women, subjecting them to sexual violence. Over the past three years, the number of women being arrested has surged daily. According to Taliban reports, nearly one thousand women remain imprisoned by the group, with hundreds having been released.
The Taliban are exploiting women sexually. Reports indicate that at least four women released from Taliban captivity have disclosed that either they or their friends were sexually assaulted while in prison. It is noteworthy that a report titled “Justice and Afghanistani Women,” conducted by the Afghanistani Women and Children’s Welfare Organization, documented a 35% increase in sexual assaults by Taliban members against women and girls in Afghanistan over the past year. This group’s sexual violence extends beyond prisons, affecting women in various locations.
This comes amid the Taliban leader’s decree that women’s voices are considered indecent and that they are forbidden from leaving their homes without a male guardian. Yet, in Taliban prisons, a thousand women remain detained without any male guardian.
