RASC News Agency: Rina Amiri, the U.S. Special Envoy for Afghanistani Women, met with Lana Nusseibeh, the UAE’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, underscoring that the empowerment of women is essential for Afghanistan’s economic stability. The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement reaffirming both parties’ commitment to supporting the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan and pledging continued efforts toward this goal.
Both emphasized that women’s and girls’ rights are vital to the economic sustainability of Afghanistan. According to the statement, both sides also agreed on the urgent need for collective support and resource provision to improve the lives of Afghanistani women and children, particularly in education, healthcare, livelihood, and entrepreneurial opportunities. They further discussed the importance of delivering humanitarian aid to the Afghanistani people through development projects and supporting reconstruction initiatives.
Meanwhile, the Taliban has stripped Afghanistani women of their rights, denying them any privileges or freedoms. Since seizing control of Afghanistan, the Taliban has barred women from attending schools, universities, and workplaces. In a recent decree, the group even deemed women’s voices inappropriate for public hearing and restricted their movement outside their homes.
The Taliban’s latest order dictates that Afghanistani women should not leave their homes unless absolutely necessary and only with a male guardian. Afghanistani women now endure some of the most severe forms of oppression in the world.
