U.S. Department of Defense: Taliban Do Not Collaborate in the Fight Against ISIS

RASC News Agency: A Pentagon spokesperson recently informed the media that the United States collaborates with international partners in its efforts to combat ISIS. However, Sabrina Singh, the Deputy Press Secretary for the Pentagon, emphasized that the U.S. does not consider the Taliban to be a cooperative force in this mission.

Previously, NBC News reported, based on information from two knowledgeable sources and a former U.S. official, that in light of the increasing global threat posed by ISIS, officials within the Biden administration were exploring the possibility of expanding cooperation with the Taliban regime to assist in tracking ISIS-Khorasan. The U.S. and other Western governments are actively working to address the rising threat from ISIS-Khorasan. Until earlier this year, American and Western officials believed that ISIS-Khorasan intended to conduct attacks outside of Afghanistan but lacked the capability. However, this perspective shifted following the March 22 attack on the Crocus Concert Hall in Moscow, which resulted in the deaths of 130 individuals.

In recent years, the Taliban have engaged in intense conflicts with ISIS, claiming that they have subdued the group and that it no longer poses a threat to them or other nations. The Taliban assert that they have apprehended and killed thousands of ISIS militants in Afghanistan over the past three years. However, credible reports indicate that the Taliban are arresting and killing members of the National Resistance Front, the Freedom Front, and other opposition groups under the pretext of combating ISIS, while maintaining covert alliances and shared ideologies with the terrorist organization.
