RASC News Agency: Local Taliban officials in Zabul province report that flash floods have claimed the lives of ten individuals and left one injured. Zabihullah Johar, spokesperson for the Taliban’s police command in Zabul province, stated on Monday, August 5th, that the incident occurred last night in the Shinki district of the province.

According to this Taliban official, the floods resulted in the destruction of nearly eight residential houses in this district. This development comes as various provinces across the country have experienced devastating floods this year, causing significant loss of life and property. Previously, the Meteorological Department of the Taliban’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation announced the likelihood of heavy rainfall and flash floods in 11 provinces.

Furthermore, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that recent floods have affected 83,000 people in Afghanistan. According to OCHA, 23.7 million people in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan are in need of assistance, with 48% of the population living below the poverty line. The United Nations humanitarian coordination office also noted that, under such conditions, the expulsion of Afghanistani refugees from Iran and Pakistan exacerbates the food crisis in Afghanistan.
