RASC News Agency: Karen Decker, the U.S. Charge d’Affaires for Afghanistan, has extended her condolences to the victims of the recent floods in Nangarhar, Laghman, and Panjshir. She assured that efforts are being made to provide aid as swiftly as possible. Decker emphasized that the U.S. is closely monitoring the situation and is in the process of delivering emergency assistance to those affected by the floods. On Wednesday, July 27, Decker wrote on the social media platform X: “We are monitoring the situation and mobilizing emergency aid, including food, water, and other essential supplies, to support those in need.”
In a similar vein, the Japanese Ambassador to Afghanistan expressed solidarity with the flood victims, stating that Japan is observing the situation and stands with the people of Afghanistan. The Japanese Ambassador remarked, “We share in your sorrow and stand by the flood victims.” The Ambassador further expressed: “I am deeply saddened by the recent severe storms and devastating floods in Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman, Panjshir, and Kapisa. I extend my condolences to those who have lost their lives and sympathies to their families.”
Meanwhile, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reported on Wednesday that 727 families have been affected by the recent floods in the provinces of Nangarhar, Laghman, and Kunar. According to Taliban reports, at least 40 people have died and 347 have been injured in Nangarhar province due to the flooding and storms. The provinces of Laghman, Kunar, Panjshir, and Badakhshan have also experienced flooding, with five fatalities reported in Kunar.
