RASC News Agency: Media reports have indicated that the library at Sar-e-Pul Province University in Afghanistan has undergone renovations carried out by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). Turkish media outlets have stated that the library has been officially named the “100th Anniversary Library of the Republic of Turkey” and is now fully operational with equipment donated by TIKA.
TIKA recently announced the opening ceremony of the library, which was attended by several notable figures, including Sami Lutfi Turgut, the Consul General of Turkey in Mazar-e-Sharif; Mohammad Noori Akdogan, the Religious Services Attaché of the Consulate General of Mazar-e-Sharif; and Mikael Tash Demir, the Coordination Director of TIKA in Mazar-e-Sharif. The ceremony was also attended by Mawlawi Mohammad Nadir Haqjo, the deputy governor of the Taliban group in Sar-e-Pul, Dr. Farid Hafizi, the chancellor of Sar-e-Pul University, as well as members of the academic staff, students, and other guests.
During his speech at the event, Turgut expressed his hope that TIKA’s development initiatives will continue to benefit the people of Afghanistan. He emphasized the agency’s commitment to various sectors such as education, health, agriculture, humanitarian aid, and professional training courses. Turgut further expressed his desire to provide necessary services and improve access to educational facilities and vocational training for the citizens of Afghanistan through TIKA’s projects.
TIKA announced the renovation of the mentioned library amid the oppressive measures imposed by the Taliban against Afghanistani women and girls, who have been stripped of their fundamental rights, including access to education and employment opportunities. Additionally, the Taliban has converted numerous schools into religious institutions across various provinces in Afghanistan.
