RASC News Agency: Local sources from Kandahar province report that a 15-year-old boy has confined himself and subsequently committed suicide. Sources informed the media on Monday, July 8, that this incident occurred on the afternoon of the previous day in the Maiwand district of Kandahar province.
According to the sources, the boy, named Niaz Mohammad, originally hailed from Helmand province but had recently moved to Kandahar with his family. Reportedly, after a verbal altercation with his father and brother, he took his own life by hanging himself.
This tragic event comes amidst a notable increase in suicide rates among Afghanistani citizens, particularly among the youth and women, since the Taliban’s takeover of the country. In a recent case, a young man in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar also committed suicide due to economic hardships.
Family disputes, economic problems, and mental health issues are among the contributing factors that occasionally lead to suicides among the youth in Afghanistan.
