The source clarified that Ghulam Sakhi was shot dead by four armed men in his home in Chaqmaq village on the night of Tuesday, July 2.
While the identity of the assailants remains unclear, Ghulam Sakhi’s family accuses Rahmatullah Noorani, the head of the Taliban’s second security district in Maimana, of orchestrating the murder. The source added that Ghulam Sakhi intended to marry the former wife of Rahmatullah Noorani, who had previously warned him against such a union. Taliban officials in Faryab Province have yet to comment on the incident.
